The Supporting Resilient Livelihoods and Food Security in Yemen Joint Programme (ERRY II) is a 3-year programme financed by the EU and SIDA and will be managed by UNDP and jointly implemented together with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), International Labour Organization (ILO) and the World Food Programme (WFP).
The programme covers six vulnerable governorates: Abyan, Hajjah, Hodeidah, Lahj, Taiz and Sana’a (a total of sixteen districts)
The overall objective of ERRY II is to contribute to the reduced vulnerability and strengthened resilience of crisis-affected communities in Yemen through the creation of sustainable livelihoods and improved access to basic services.
Outcome: Crisis affected communities are better able to manage local risks and shocks for increased resilience and self-reliance.
The Joint Programme is expected to achieve the following results over the implementation timeframe:
- Output 1: Community livelihoods, productive assets and food security are improved to strengthen resilience and self-reliance.
- Output 2: Vulnerable communities benefit from solar energy for sustainable livelihoods opportunities and enhanced social service delivery.
- Output 3: Communities and local authorities have enhanced capacities to respond to conflict- and gender-sensitive needs.
Accomplishments as of June 2021
- 6,855 individuals directly benefited from business development and life skills training, enabling over 4,000 of them to establish micro-businesses and indirectly benefit over 28,000 people.
- Nearly 6,800 women and youth improved their livelihoods & food security by participating in the rehabilitation of 27 community market.
- 64 solar off-grid systems installed in public facilities, including schools and health centres in five districts.
- 72 solar off-grid vaccine refrigerators installed in 71 health centres in 10 districts.
- Solar Inventar: An online Solar Energy Intervention Mapping platform was launched to help organizations prioritize and coordinate their solar interventions.
- MSMEs supported through the installation of four solar micrgrid systems of 40kW, enabling the sale of reliable electricity.
- 713 individuals trained to improve their employability skills in solar energy micro-enterprises.
- 543 SMEs were established in the field of solar energy and electrical work.
- 140 mediators were identified and trained on conflict and gender sensitivity as well as the Do No Harm principal in Az Zuhrah, Bani Qais, Ash Shammaytayn, Khanfer, & Al Musaymir districts.
- 40 priority interventions identified and implemented under the community resilience plans at subdistrict level.
- 120 Selected compact initiatives identified under the community resilience plans at the village level have been implemented.
- Four conflict sensitivity scans were conducted in Khanfar, Ash Shim'yatayn, Al-Musaimeer, and Serar districts.
- 57 Sub-District Committees were established and 57 Community Resilience Plans were developed.
- 285 members of ٍSub-district Committees (59 women) have been trained on identifying recovery priorities and developing resilience plans.
- Eight District Management Teams were reactivated and eight District Recovery Plans were developed.
- Seven district recovery projects are currently being implemented.
- 29 conflict resolution initiatives were implemented in seven districts (Bani Qais, Az Zuhrah, Abs, Ash- Shim'yatayn, Khanfar, Al-Musaimeer and Serar ).
- Five gender and conflict sensitivity trainings were conducted for the District Management Teams, Community Committees and, Insider Mediators.
