A recently published story entitled Distance Education: Overcoming all Challenges to Build Business Skills and a Brighter Future that showcased a UNDP livelihood support activity via WhatsApp has been incorrectly cited by media outlets on social media.

The aim of the training was to continue to safely build the livelihoods and skills capacity of rural Yemeni participants during COVID-19 by providing useful business information via WhatsApp – including video, audio, message, and file transfers. UNDP aims to ensure access to skills and livelihoods training is accessible to all Yemeni people – including in rural and remote communities. The delivery of training using WhatsApp demonstrates UNDP’s commitment to the safety, health and well-being of all Yemenis, as well as continuous efforts to innovate for sustainable development and a brighter future for Yemen.
