    National efforts to agreed on Transitional Justice and Reconciliation

    SANA'A, Yemen’s Ministry of Legal Affairs, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Office of High Commissioner of Human Rights (OHCHR), launched today a two-day workshop aiming at understanding the nature, scope and meaning of transitional justice and national reconciliation in the Yemeni context.

    Women and children, first victims in armed conflict

    Yemen’s Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)/Emergency Capacity Development Facility (ECDF), continues its efforts to address the issue of Women and children as the first victims of armed conflicts. In this regard, the Ministry of Interior and UNDP have convened a second workshop on the impact of armed conflict on women and children in Aden for police officers from southern governorates. The first workshop was convened last week in Sana’a for police officers from center and northern governorates. The workshop started today under the patronage under the patronage of the Ministry of Interior at the police coast Guard training center.

    Turkey supports Yemen's Voter Registration Process

    SANA’A, The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Republic of Turkey signed an agreement today, confirming Turkey’s support to UNDP’s Support to Elections during the Transitional Period (SETP) project. This important support will be channeled through the Multi-donors Basket Fund, administered by UNDP and comprising 8 countries and two UN institutions supporting elections during transitional period in Yemen.

    Yemen commits to implementing regional project to strengthen youth volunteerism

    Yemen lunched a Regional Project " Arab Youth Volunteering for a Better Future " today with the United Nations to expand opportunities for Yemeni youth in the area of volunteerism.H.E. Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Mohammed Al-Sadi signed the agreement in the presence of Ms. Kawtar Zerouali, the Regional Project Manager, and discussed ongoing UN activities in support of youth development, in a ceremony at the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation in Sana'a.

    Nadia Al Sakkaf – a Yemeni Businesswoman receives Business for Peace Award, honored on May 14th at Akershus Nobel Prize Fortress in Oslo

    This year, UNDP has developed a new strategic partnership with the Business for Peace Foundation and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) to promote the Business for Peace Award. UNDP country offices were invited to support this year’s nomination process. Nominations were received from over 50 countries, and a Yemeni business woman, Nadia Al Sakkaf, nominated by UNDP Yemen, has been chosen as Honoree.

    USAID increases support to national capacity building

    The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) announced today its support to the Emergency Capacity Development Facility managed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The initial 1,000,000 USD contribution will be channeled to Yemen via the UNDP Thematic Trust Fund for Crisis Prevention and Recovery through an agreement between the Headquarters of the agencies.

    United Nations System in Yemen hails Riyadh donor meeting

    The two-day meeting of Yemen’s donors 4-5 September has demonstrated the commitment of the international community to support Yemen to overcome current development and humanitarian challenges in addition to ensuring the timely and honest implementation of the GCC initiative and its implementation mechanism. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, UN Humanitarian and Resident Coordinator said: “The message from the donors was clear, that Yemen deserves urgent support to ensure a successful transition to a stable nation. Several donors highlighted the humanitarian crisis faced by the country and the need to address it.”
