    French Government joins nations supporting elections in Yemen

    Sana’a, Sunday 9 February 2014, signaling greater international cooperation for the transitional period and the electoral processes that are its backbone, the United Nations Development Programme and the French Government on Sunday formally signed an agreement that would contribute some US$ 406,620 to Yemen’s new voter registry.

    Swedish and UNDP signed a Cost Sharing Agreement to support Transitional Justice

    The UNDP's Acting Resident Representative Mr. Mahamed Hassen and Mr. Anders Frankenberg, Head of MENA Unit of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) signed a Cost Sharing Agreement through which the SIDA will donate SEK 14,000,000 ($ 2,1 million, approximately) to support the Implementation of Transitional Justice Project in Yemen.

    Signing of five agreements to address environmental challenges in Socotra

    Police Leaders further develop their skills attending a Leadership & Strategic Planning Course

    AMMAN, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) in cooperation with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)/Emergency Capacity Development Facility (ECDF) project and the Public Security Directorate of Jordan has organized an intensive two-week training course on Leadership and Strategic Planning for 10 senior police officers leading the new departments which were established after the restructuring of the Ministry of Interior as part of the Gulf Cooperation Council initiative and its implementation mechanism that was signed in Riyadh on 23 November 2011.

    The Netherlands inters into an agreement with UNDP to Support Transitional Justice

    SANA'A - a cost sharing agreement between the Royal Kingdom of the Netherlands and UNDP was signed on 13 November 2013 between Ms. Renate Pors Acting Charge’ d Affair and Head of Development Cooperation at the Royal Kingdom of the Netherlands Embassy in Yemen and UNDP Acting Resident Representative Mr. Mahamed Hassen for an amount of $754,876 to support Transitional Justice Project in Yemen.

    Contribution Agreement between the EU Delegation in Yemen and the UNDP signed

    The Head of Delegation of the EU in Yemen Ms. Bettina Muscheidt and the UNDP's Senior Country Director Mr. Gustavo Gonzalez signed a Contribution Agreement through which the EU will donate €1 million to the Transitional Justice Project (Support to the Implementation of Transitional Justice in Yemen).

    With support from UNDP and the Governments of Japan and Korea, Youth boost business and entrepreneurship in Yemen: the Innovation and Creativity Award winners

    A press conference was convened at at Al-Bustan Hotel to inaugurate the winners of the youth innovation and creativity award. Twenty eight youth from around Yemen were impatient for 31st of October the day, in which sixteen innovative and creative business ideas won the Youth Innovation and Creativity Award. The award rewards the youth innovative business ideas with $20,000 for each project.

    Biometric Voter Registration Kits Arrive in Yemen, Signaling a New Era for Yemen

    Two-thousand nine-hundred and fifty biometric voter registration kits have arrived in Yemen as a portion of the planned roll out of a technologically-advanced biometric voter registration system supported by the Multi-donor Basket Fund project managed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), which is spearheading the support to the reform to the currently outdated voter registry.

    Women and children, first victims in armed conflict

    Yemen’s Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)/Emergency Capacity Development Facility (ECDF), continues its efforts to address the issue of Women and children as the first victims of armed conflicts. In this regard, the Ministry of Interior and UNDP have convened a second workshop on the impact of armed conflict on women and children in Aden for police officers from southern governorates. The first workshop was convened last week in Sana’a for police officers from center and northern governorates. The workshop started today under the patronage under the patronage of the Ministry of Interior at the police coast Guard training center.
