Police Public Relation officers further develop their Public Communication and Inter-personal skills
SANA’A, 09March 2014. The Ministry of Interior in cooperation with United Nation Development Program(UNDP)/Emergency Capacity Development Facility (ECDF) project and with funding from the U.S Department of State: Bureau of Intl Narcotic & Law Enforcement (INL) has organized an intensive one-week training course on Public Communication for 35 MoI Public Relation Officers fromSana’a and several governorates. The training is held at Taj Sheba Hotel in Sana'a from 09 to 13March 2014.
The aim of this course is to qualify the Public Relations officers in Sana’a and the Governorates to provide training on Public Communication and inter-personal skills tothe first line officers within their Governorates and Units that have interactions with the public.
In his opening speech, the Inspector General of Ministry Interior Major General Abdo Thabetindicated “that one of MoI key priorities is to build the capacity of Police Officers in public communication skills. He also stressed the MoI commitment to safeguard the human rights principles in enforcing the laws and implementing its duties. He thanked UNDP’s Emergency Capacity Development Facility project and the U.S Department of State Bureau of Intl Narcotic & Law Enforcement (INL) for their support in organizing this imperative training course.
The ECDF (Emergency Capacity Development Facility) Chief Technical Advisor Mr. Roberto Paganini congratulated the Major General Abdo Hussein Altareb for his appointment as a Minister of Interior and thanked the Ministry for taking the initiative of organizing this training course. He pointed outthat, following the training, the 35 Public Relations Officerswill share their experience and deliver lectures to the first line police officers in their respective governorates. Therefore, it is expected the entire police force will benefit from this course and that the Public Communication and inter-personal skills of officers that routinely deal with the public will substantially improve.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Inspector General of Ministry Interior Major General Abdo Thabet, senior police officers, UNDP officials, Law Enforcement international stakeholders and media.
