(Volunteering Football League Championship 2012) for Youth Groups and Volunteering Organizations was Inaugurated
Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, UN Resident Coordinator & United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative, inaugurated today Volunteering Football League Championship 2012. Fifteen football teams from Youth Groups and one team from the UN System in Yemen will run for the title.
In the opening ceremony, several statements were made by different supporters and participators. They all confirmed that the concept of volunteerism should be given enough attention because it is a noble human value.
In addition, flashes and videos were played to highlight volunteering works and efforts of the participating groups. The ceremony also included a concert that was a mixture of traditional Yemeni singing and modern singing.
The theme of the championship is (Volunteers for Yemen). It is organized by United Nations Volunteers in Yemen, in coordination with UNDP, UNFPA, UNICEF, and a number of Youth Groups. It is held in partnership with MTN Yemen, and Total Yemen companies.
The final will be played on 28 May 2012, and it will be followed by closing ceremony.
The championship is held in Belquis Sport Club in Sanaâ€™a, and it is open for the public.
