To support elections in Yemen Saudia Arabia signed cost sharing agreement with UNDP
A signing ceremony was organized at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Saudi Arabia between the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and UNDP, in which the cost sharing agreement for the amount of US$ 1 million in favor of the project “Support to Elections during Transition Period (SETP)” that was signed by His Excellency Mr. Ali Ben Mohammed Al-Hamdan, Ambassador of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Mr. Ismail Oul Cheikh Ahmed, UNDP Resident Representative.
The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Darren Nance, Chief Technical Adviser SETP and Mr. Abdo Seif, Head of Advisory and Oversight Team UNDP Sana’a. Moreover, Mr. Ahmed informed the Saudi Ambassador on the status of implementation of the three inter-related electoral cycle interventions i.e. electronic voter registry; constitutional referendum; and Presidential and Parliamentarian elections in 2014 and the challenges that the project is facing including the financial gap of 43% of the total resources for Phase II of US$ 33.8 million.
