Since the failure of political dialogue process in September 2014 followed by an intensive military conflicts in number of governorates including Aden, triggered a comprehensive civil war in March 2015, which was sequentially followed by the launching of the military operations by the Arab Force Coalition that further exacerbated the humanitarian situation, as well as contribute further deterioration of the Yemeni economic to the level of collapsing.

Humanitarian Forum Yemen (YHF) in cooperation withThe United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) the has concluded a two-week training course on Humanitarian Competencies, Conflict Resolution, and Early Recovery to build the capacity of local Non-Government Organizations (NGOs). The objectives of the training are to reflect the local NGOs experience in the thematic training manuals, which UNDP and YHF are working to develop, promote a wide scale response to the humanitarian crisis in the country and to improve service delivery in the conflict affected areas. In the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour, UNDP, YHF and local NGOs, a closing ceremony was held in the capital Sana'a on Thursday to mark the graduation of more than 60 trainees including 50% of women, representing 30 local NGOs from the governorates of Abyan, Aden and Taiz.

World Bank Approves US$50 Million Grant to Help Communities and Institutions in Yemen Cope with the Conflict

The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors approved today a US$50 million emergency project to support Yemeni households and communities hard hit by the ongoing crisis. The grant is part of a new World Bank Group strategy for Yemen, also endorsed today by the Board of Executive Directors, focused on enhancing Yemen’s resilience by preserving national service delivery capacity, while preparing for post conflict recovery.
