UNDP champions community radio to promote culture of employability and entrepreneurship for youth in the central and southern governorates

Aden, UNDP is supporting a community-based business radio show on Lana Radio, airing for Yemeni youth in Aden and neighbouring governorates. In partnership with 21 Century Forum and Lana Radio, UNDP launched today in Aden its first public event on economic and employment-related topics, bringing listeners and journalists together for unique opportunities to exchange. The first event was attended by over 100 youth, in addition to representatives from UNDP, NGOs and journalists in Khormaksar.
UNDP promotes private sector development and youth entrepreneurs during critical times in Yemen

Today marked the launch of the first Business Support Centre in Yemen, supported by UNDP, in partnership with the Yemeni Business Club (YBC) and Spark. The launch, which was attended by representatives from the private sector, NGOs, the Social Fund for Development, UNDP and Spark, successfully outlined the importance of private sector development for resilience and inclusive growth.

H.E. Katsuyoshi Hayashi, Ambassador of Japan to Yemen, visited Aden for the first time since 1980. Japan’s support to southern Governorates extends to a wide array of interventions towards the stabilization and economic recovery of the region including returning Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). With the generous support of the Government of Japan, UNICEF supported school rehabilitation, therapeutic health and nutrition centers and water and sanitation projects for thousands of children, parents, and teachers.
