    In March 2017, Fatima was awarded the Women’s International Day Prize, bestowed by the Youth Leadership Development Foundation and sponsored by UN Women, in recognition of her efforts on dispute resolution and contribution to maintain social peace in Lawdar District, Abyan Governorate. She was one of the trainees who completed the Dialogue Design and Facilitation, and Conflict Transformation for Insider Mediators training developed and implemented by the Search for Common Ground (SFCC), an implementing partner of UNDP under the Enhanced Rural Resilience in Yemen (ERRY) Programme.

    During the Advanced Training of Trainers on conflict resolution and mediation jointly conducted by UNDP Yemen and Partners Yemen in Lahj governorate, Nusiaba from Tuban district in Lahj Governorate shared her unforgettable experience of violence prevention back in April 2015. Since then, Nusiaba has actively involved in conflict or disputes resolution, mediation and negotiation in her areas, grasped every opportunity to further enhance her skills, and encouraged other female member of her area and community to follow her path.

    Since the failure of political dialogue process in September 2014 followed by an intensive military conflicts in number of governorates including Aden, triggered a comprehensive civil war in March 2015, which was sequentially followed by the launching of the military operations by the Arab Force Coalition that further exacerbated the humanitarian situation, as well as contribute further deterioration of the Yemeni economic to the level of collapsing.

  • Saving lives of mothers and their babies in some part of rural Taizz

    In August 2015, UNDP launched a Private Business Midwifery Project, funded by UNDP and the government of Japan that aims to empower midwives to develop entrepreneurial skills to establish clinics in 22 rural districts in Taizz.
