Booklet on the Vision of Civil Society Organizations on the National Dialogue Conference

December 15, 2013

Support to the Implementation of Transitional Justice in Yemen project helped two CSO networks prepare a document capturing the vision of CSOs about the National Dialogue Conference. The document was prepared through three workshops attended by 110 CSO representatives who came from 21 Governorates. The project carried out this activity based on the ideas and contributions of the two Civil Society Organization Networks which include 400 CSO members.

The first workshop was done in April in Sana'a where 31 CSO participants from Sana'a and the nearby Governorates attended a two-day workshop and produced the first draft of the CSO Vision. The draft was then discussed in Hodeida through a two-day workshop during May. Thirty-four CSO participants from the cities in Hodeidah, Hajjah, Al Mahwit and Raimah governorates developed the first draft into a second one.  The workshop in Hodeidah expanded the issue of citizens living in Hodeidah Governorate known as "Tehama Issue" from one paragraph into one page adding well-discussed points to the second draft. Draft II was discussed in the city of Aden during the month of July 2013  through a similar workshop. As a result, the CSO vision document has taken its final shape and was submitted to NDC by the two CSO Networks during August.
