    The Government of Yemen believes that the role of civil society, as a strong and independent partner, is very important in furthering developments goals, improving the level of service provision and making them more responsive to the needs and expectations of citizens. Building a strong partnership with civil society is a top priority for the government, which regards this partnership as a cornerstone in the country’s plans for sustainable development.

    Yemen has a vibrant civil society sector comprising around 12,000 organizations, of which approximately 8,000 are registered with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor (MoSAL). Acknowledging the tremendous contribution of civil society organizations (CSOs) in improving service delivery as well as their role in developing policies for comprehensive and sustainable development, the Government of Yemen (GoY) is determined to strengthen their capacities and facilitate their operations throughout the country.
